HU's Newest Faculty: The Dawn of Animal Life on Earth

Dr. Yehu MoranDr. Yehu Moran's research offers a fascinating glimpse into how animal life forms might have functioned more than half a billion years ago. His research group specifically examines the evolution of the regulation of gene expression in Nematostella, a type of sea anemone, using cutting-edge gene manipulation techniques.

Moran joined the Hebrew University's Department of Ecology, Evolution and Behavior at the Alexander Silberman Institute of Life Sciences as a senior lecturer in February 2014 after holding a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Vienna. He greatly supports Israeli academia and is glad to join the Hebrew University. "I strongly believe that as an Israeli citizen who enjoyed the benefits of Israel’s education system, earning three academic degrees here, that it was my duty to help my country by joining Israel’s academia."
