December 28, 2015, Hebrew University launched its 3D and Functional Printing Center, Israel’s first center to focus on 3D printing and its technology. 3D printing is the process of creating a physical three dimensional object based on digital blueprints. The 3D and Functional Printing Center will allow researchers to explore this emerging scientific field while giving them access to this evolving global industry.
The new Center’s director, Prof. Shlomo Magdassi, believes that the center will become a place where experts in different scientific fields can meet. He predicts that it will become a hub for interdisciplinary research and collaborations that will lead to exciting breakthroughs.
3D printing is destined to impact every element of our lives from the food we eat, the products we consume, and even the organs in our body. It will create an alternative and more effective way to create various objects allowing the creation of new functional structures to better our lives.
