Board of Governors

Dear Friends,

Excitement is building in Jerusalem for the Hebrew University’s 75th Annual Board of Governors meeting which will take place from June 8th through June 13th.

In honor of the 75th anniversary of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s Board of Governors meeting, it gives us great pleasure to offer an exceptional pre-board program. Included in the program, commencing on Thursday June 7th, 2012, will be the premier performance of the famous opera Carmen, conducted by Israeli Maestro Daniel Oren at Masada.

French tragic opera Carmen was composed by Georges Bizet and is set in Seville, Spain. The heroine Carmen is a passionate and gorgeous cigarette girl who wins the heart, mind and soul of Don Jose, a corporal of the dragoons (an elite group in the army). Don Jose throws away a promising career and joins Carmen and a band of smugglers. Eventually becoming bored with him, Carmen turns her affections to handsome bullfighter Escamillo. Don Jose confronts Carmen outside the arena and stabs her with a knife. The victorious bullfighter emerges from the fight to claim his woman but, instead, finds Don Jose with bloody hands sobbing over Carmen’s lifeless body.

Hebrew University guests will receive VIP seating in the front rows as well as enjoy a Gala dinner in the VIP lounge, with guest of honor Maestro Daniel Oren.

The pre-Board package for $445 per person includes:

  • Shuttle bus from the main Board hotels in Jerusalem to Masada, returning to Jerusalem after the opera.
  • Gala dinner with guest of honor Maestro Daniel Oren, in an exclusive VIP lounge for Hebrew University guests.
  • VIP seating at the opera.
  • Hostess service and security escort throughout the trip.
  • Choice of buses, with or without guides. Buses with guides, with the best of Hebrew University professors on board, will offer passengers a guided tour of the surrounding areas, such as the Qumran National Park, the Inn of the Good Samaritan, and more.
